The planning of a new library for Technikon Pretoria started in 1988. The excavation work started in 1992, and the new library opened its doors to users for the first time on 1 October 1993.
A year later, Mr Robin Plumbridge, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gold Fields, officially opened the library on 17 October 1994.
Facilities
- Information Literacy Training and Library Orientation for new students and staff
- Database training for lecturers, on request
- Group study room and lockable study cubicles
- Conference room for use by staff on the 1st floor
- Auditorium for use by staff and students on the 2nd floor
- Electronic Resources Center (ERC)and I-Centres which provide students of TUT with access to computer and internet resources and document services
- Access to in-house, national and international databases
